High quality, yet affordable cPanel Linux hosting!

cPanel Web Disk Interface

The Web Disk interface in your cPanel control panel lets you manage and manipulate files on your account on different devices like your computer or mobile phone. cPanel supplies mobile apps for Android and iOS platforms that enable you to use the Web Disk feature on your mobile device. Please refer to the How to Use The WebDisk Mobile App documentation for more information.

Accessing the Web Disk interface

Login to your cPanel control panel using your web browser. Go to 'http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel/' (without the quotation marks). So if your domain name is 'example.com' you should go to 'http://www.example.com/cpanel/' to login to your control panel. The Web Disk interface is in the "Files" tab, simply click on the name or the icon to enter.

cPanel Web Disk Location

Using the main web disk account

The system creates a default main disk account for you and sets your home directory as the web disk location. This account can not be deleted and uses the same login credencials with your cPanel account.
  • You can access this account's files by clicking "Access Web Disk".
  • To view the login details or download a configuration script, click "Configure Client Access".
  • If you use Microsoft Windows operating systems, click "Enable Digest Authentication".

Creating an additional web disk account

  • Enter the account information of your choice in the available text boxes. You can select a domain or subdomain (if your account has more than one) when you enter a username.
  • Enter and confirm a new password. We recommend using the Password Generator.
  • Enter the home directory for the web disk account in the "Directory" text box.
  • Select "Read-Write" permission setting to grant access to all operations in the directory. Select "Read-Only" permission setting to only allow for reading, downloading and listing of the files in the directory
  • If you use Microsoft Windows operating systems, click "Enable Digest Authentication".
  • Click "Create".

Managing additional web disk accounts

The "Manage Additional Web Disk Accounts" table displays the following information for the additional Web Disk accounts you've created;
  • Account: Web disk account's username
  • Directory: The directory assigned to the web disk account.
  • Actions: Additional settings for the web disk account.

Please note that if you use Digest Authentication, changing usernames of the web disk accounts requires reenabling Digest Authentication.
