High quality, yet affordable cPanel Linux hosting!

WHM Two-Factor Authentication Interface

The Two-Factor Authentication interface in your WHM control panel lets you configure two-factor authentication (2FA) for the login interfaces of cPanel & WHM. This is an improved security measure and requires two forms of identification:
  • Your password.
  • A generated security code.
When 2FA is enabled, you cannot login without your smartphone. An application on your smartphone supplies a code that you must enter with your password to log in.

Please note that we recommend using Google Authenticator™ for Android™, iOS®, and Blackberry® smartphones. For a Windows® Phone, you can use the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Accessing the Two-Factor Authentication interface

Login to your WHM control panel using your web browser. Go to 'http://www.yourdomain.com/whm/' (without the quotation marks). So if your domain name is 'example.com' you should go to 'http://www.example.com/whm/' to login to your control panel. The Two-Factor Authentication interface is in the "Security Center" tab, simply click on the name to enter.

Enabling Two-Factor Authentication

  • Click "Manage My Account" to switch to that tab.
  • Click "Set Up Two-Factor Authentication" button.
  • Scan the QR Code on the screen with your 2FA Authentication app on your smartphone.
  • Enter the security code generated by your 2FA Authentication app on your smartphone, in the "Security Code" text box.

Please note that enabling Two-Factor Authentication may cause some third party applications to break.

Disabling Two-Factor Authentication on a user account.

  • Click "Manage Users" to switch to that tab.
  • Find the account you'd like to disable 2FA for and click "Disable" to the right of the account.
  • Click "Disable All" to disable on all user accounts. This will not disable 2FA on your own account if it's enabled.
